Engagement and Client Manager based in Copenhagen

Job description 

GES is strengthening its team with an Engagement/Client manager.  We are seeking a highly-motivated individual with a passion for responsible investment and sustainability.

The candidate will have split responsibilities between the risk-driven Emerging Market Engagement (EME) programme and other engagements, including Business Conduct Engagement. In addition, the engagement manager will be involved with client management of Danish clients as well as sales activities. 

The engagement work requires various business trips during the year, estimated total of 20 travel days per year. The rest of the engagement work involves a substantial amount of research and analysis and intensive communication with the companies with whom we engage and the investor clients we serve. The role is challenging due to the multiple responsibilities and requires ability to work well in teams as well as a drive to produce results independently. 

The client management work involves working with Nordic institutional investors and supporting them in the implementation of GES assignments. Tasks include having client meetings to discuss GES deliveries and reports, presenting new products and services, following up on client requests and enquiries, attending conferences and events, and contributing to the GES Market team with input on Nordic trends and activities as well as identifying sales opportunities. 


The ideal candidate has a Master’s degree and will have at least 1 to 3 years of relevant track record of successfully working across teams to generate ESG research and successful engagement outcomes. Good business awareness and experience of corporate environmental issues are also important, as are an understanding of a range of social and governance topics.

It will be relevant with previous client management and sales experience. Qualifications for the role include excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and writing skills.

The main company language is English, hence fluency in English is essential. Other languages will also be beneficial, in particular Danish to manage Danish clients.

Other relevant qualifications for the role include:

  • Experience with emerging markets
  • Understanding of investment processes and experience with the financial sector
  • Understanding of material ESG topics, particularly water risks
  • Client and account management experience, including sales
  • Strong user experience with MS Office tools
